Jumping off the cliff is great for the soul (metaphorically speaking, that is)

How is taking the plunge to have an exhibition meaningful?

I have dreamed of being an artist for as long as I can remember but haven’t pursued it until the last couple of years.  This exhibition symbolises me putting myself out there as an artist and a person and overcoming any fears that may be attached to that.  It is an opportunity for me to challenge myself and subsequently grow from the experience whilst sharing my beautiful creations with others.  For me I am symbolically rising out of the shadows like my flowers and hopefully inspiring someone else to dig up a long lost dream and follow it.

Who needs fifty shades of grey

This is the current palette I'm working on. A gorgeous sensual pink rose. Who needs fifty shades of grey when you can have fifty shades of pink hanging on the wall. ;-)

I Know, I'm a Tease

Here is a section of the painting going into the Kingston Arts, exhibition publication – Artscape.  The publication is seasonal and will feature me as an exhibiting artist through the winter months.  I plan to deliver lots of colour and brighten up Bayside in July.  It is named ‘Dream Dancer’.  The full painting size is 76cm x 76cm.

Mysterious Theme for Exhibition

Here's something to spark your imagination on what to expect from my exhibition in July

“Out of the Shadows” is a vibrant exhibition featuring flowers with a twist.  In a contemporary study of light and dark, the use of torch light at night illuminates the floral subjects bringing out colours and shapes not visible in daylight. As the flowers rise up out of the darkness, the unique point of view gives the impression of a colourful and exotic night garden.
Oooooohhhhh  ;-)

I'll fill you in on how the theme came about next.  It's pretty synchronistic.

Exhibition Announcement

Exciting News for me to share for this year.  I have booked an exhibition for July, so am getting my butt into gear and painting like crazy.  All my canvases are matched with their reference photos ready to go. It is still florals, but with a twist.  20 paintings all up to get done.  Have finished 2 small (with some final touches to add) and 1/2 of a big one so far. Will let you know the date for your diaries when I have signed the gallery contract. It feels really good to have a goal to work towards and I'm looking forward to celebrating opening night with some bubbles and fun.

A nice surprise for a lucky lady

This rose was a commission for a birthday present to a lucky mum in Queensland from her kids.  Her daughter Pam entrusted me with intuitively selecting something special for her mum, and I hear she loves it.

Here is what Pam said in her letter.

A huge Thank You to you  for painting a wonderful canvas called, ‘Tropical Sunrise’ for my mum in Queensland.

I am glad I left the decision of what to paint entirely in your hands.  When mum unwrapped it, she thought it was so beautiful, she was, for the first time in her life, lost for words and had tears in her eyes.  It now hangs proudly in her living room where she admires it on a daily basis.

"I would recommend to anyone who is thinking of getting Bernadette to do a painting for them or someone else, definitely do it. You will not be disappointed."
Best wishes always, Bernadette.
From your Queensland fans!
